At the 2007 meetings of the American Sociological Association, Reading History Sideways: The Fallacy and Enduring Impact of the Developmental Paradigm on Family Life received the William J. Goode Book Award. The Goode Award was given by the American Sociological Association Section on the Sociology of the Family for the most outstanding contribution to family scholarship in the past two years.
