Serap Kavas

Serap Kavas is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Sociology at Middle East Technical University (METU) in Turkey, and a Fulbright Fellow at the Population Studies Center at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Her research interests lie in gender, family and modernization, with a regional focus on Middle East, Turkey in particular. Her current research focuses on continuity and change in Turkish family within the framework of modernization projects and aspiration for westernization in Turkey and their linkage to developmental idealism.
