Rachael Pierotti

Rachael Pierotti is a Research Specialist in the World Bank’s Africa Region Gender Innovation Lab. Her research examines the causes and consequences of gender inequality in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as the effectiveness of programs designed to combat its detrimental effects. Her work is particularly attentive to the systems of belief that legitimate ongoing gender inequality, and how those beliefs relate to health, demographic, and economic behaviors. Rachael collaborated with other members of the DI studies team to examine the reach of developmental idealism in Malawi.
