Qing Lai
Qing Lai is an Associate Professor in the Steven J. Green School of International & Public Affairs at Florida International University. He earned his PhD in Sociology at the University of Michigan and received training at the Population Studies Center and Survey Research Center, Institute for Social Research. His research interests include demography, development, contemporary China, Latin American studies, and survey methodology. He has published peer-reviewed articles on Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS), Social Science Research, Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs, Chinese Sociological Review, Chinese Journal of Sociology, Research in the Sociology of Work, Politics and Religion, etc. He has also served as Co-PI for the FIU Cuba Poll since 2020. His current research mainly focuses on the immigrants and other vulnerable populations in South Florida, as well as China’s role in regional development in Latin America.
